Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has officially commissioned a 500-meter road built in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

The road, constructed by Chief Josephat Onwualor, is another testament to the efficacy of private-public partnership in driving community development.

In his comment, Governor Soludo praised Chief Onwualor’s initiative, declaring him “a champion worthy of celebration.”

The Governor emphasized that community-driven approach is crucial for Anambra’s progress, stating, “Fixing the state requires the people and communities, in consonance with the government.”

Governor Soludo pointed out the limitations of state resources, noting that even the entire 2024 budget will not be enough to fix all the roads within a single local government and explained that 98% of the state’s resources are in private hands, while the government controls only 2%.

The Governor revealed that PPCP is a major key to unlocking Anambra’s development potential. He urged all well-meaning citizens to join the initiative, by contributing their resources and expertise towards building a better future for the state.

He expressed optimism that the coming year will witness “changing of gears” and predicted that 2024 will be a productive year for the state to make unprecedented progress.

In a vote of thanks, the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for his leadership and sterling performance.

He encouraged the Governor to continue his good efforts, stating, “You are performing well, please don’t relent.”

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, Chief Protocol officer, Hon Chinedu Nwoye, Member Representing Anambra East at the State House of Assembly, Hon Nweke Obi Callistus, Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra East Council Areas, Hon. Anselm Onuorah, among others.
