Wife of Anambra state governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo has cautioned proprietors of motherless babies homes to ensure they maintain a hygienic environment aimed at keeping the children healthy.
Mrs Soludu gave advice yesterday, when she visited some of the homes, including the Umunna motherless babies home, Odoakpu, Missionaries of Charity (sisters of Mother Theresa), community children’s home/ Compassionate home/ophanage, Fegge, both in Onitsha South Council Area and the Motherless babies and Orphanage home Onitsha in Onitsha North local government area of Anambra state .
While commending the different proprietors, also including Mrs Perpetual
Okonkwo and Lady Ritah Anuekwe for running a well organized and very hygienic homes, Her Excellency, Mrs Soludo explained that the purpose of the visits among others to show motherly love, keep babies company and improve their welfare.
I am impressed with the way staff are taking good care of kids. This is Christmas period, …for us, we reach out and visit the less privileged (these kids), spend time with them and make donations for their welfare.
“This is a period to show love, especially to these children. We need to touch people and assist to make life more enjoyable and meaningful for them.
“The premises I visited are clean. The children are happy, and we have come to put smiles on their faces.
“I urge the care givers to alway take good care of these children. Your reward is from God and the Almighty father will continue to bless you all”, she noted, and expressed satisfaction with all that she has seen today.
She also donated varieties of food items like several yam tubers, bags of gari, beans, toiletries, rice, and beverages among other things to the four orphanage homes, and charged managements of the homes to ensure that the food items were used accordingly to serve the purposes for which they were given.

Okonkwo and Lady Ritah Anuekwe thanked Mrs Soludo for the visits, especially making out the time, empower network their homes and felicitating with the children at this festival period.
Lady Anuekwe, who identifed herself as the Director, Social Education in Onitsha North, urged other social workers to emulate their gesture by setting up homes for less privileged children, adding, “We thank Mrs Soludo for her efforts to put smiles and improve lives of children. Our children are happy and enjoying themselves and feeling at home with Her Excellency today.
On her part, Mrs Okonkwo said, “We are happy with Mrs Soludo’s visit, it with remain I our minds for long. We have challenges like the need for good toilet facilities, clothing materials, constant food supply for adequate running of a well organized home.
