This weekends NPFL match day 12 encounters throws up very interesting duels and the peak of them all no doubt is the Abia derby this Sunday between two sister clubs.
The People’s Elephant will tomorrow at the Enyimba Int’l Stadium, Aba lock horns with their state rivals, Abia Warriors in what can be dubbed as “God’s Own Derby”.
Enyimba’s hardworking midfielder, Eze Happy Ekwutoziam while reacting to Enyimba Media on the encounter said they already know what to expect from Abia Warriors being their sister club but insists that come Sunday, he and his colleagues who are fully inspired with the innovative welfare packages attracted by the Club Chairman, Kanu Papilo Nwankwo are more than determined for all three points against their closest rival.
“Yes Yes, big game tomorrow (Sunday) against Abia Warriors. We know what a derby game is all about especially playing against a sister club in same state with you.
“We have prepared really well, we know it’s not going to be easy, we know that but we are fully ready for them and surely we are coming out victorious tomorrow.
The league defending champions have met with their sister side 15 times in the league since 2014 and seem to hold the aces having won on 9 occasions drawing 3 and lost 3.
Coach Finidi George will obviously put some fate on young and exciting trio of Izuogu Chibueze, Chidiebere Nnachi and Eze Ekwutosiam to torment the defence of the Erasmos Onu tutored Umuhia based side.
Another teenager, Daniel Daga is equally expected to orchestrate proceedings from the middle of the pack while also providing cover for the duo of Paschal Eze and Somairi Alalibo in defence to shield captain Olorunleke Ojo who is expected in goal against his former side.
