Enyimba Gaffer, Finidi George has expressed confidence that his team will consolidate on the gains of his players good performance against Insurance FC on Wednesday as set out to meet Heartland FC

Joseph Atule’s first league goal of the season during the second half of the encounter and an own goal earned the league champions back to back win in the league improving their stand from 15th to 8th on the log with 13 points from 8 games.

Reacting after the exciting encounter between the League Champions and Federation Cup Champions, Finidi who joined his side from Rwanda after an international assignment with the Super Eagles against Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifier urged the players to sustain the tempo as it will help them to get the job done.

“Yeah, it was a good game we dominated. Couldn’t score in the first half but created clear cut chances in the second half and could have scored a couple even before the goals started coming in”,

“It was a good display from the players and we just have to continue like this. They have to continue believing in themselves hopefully we can get the job done”,

“We knew it was going to be a physical game so we had to keep the likes of Elijah Akani on the bench till when it got slower, he came in to do his magic”,

“After our last work out, I didn’t tell Joseph Atule he wasn’t going to start but I told him it’s just a matter of time for the goals to start coming for him. He came in and could have scored two today, this will help his confidence and in the next matches he can consolidate”,

“For the next game against Heartland FC, we are in good form and we will surely go there to compete. I can’t guarantee what’s going to happen but we hope to have a good match in Owerri”, he said

The People’s Elephant will this Saturday in Owerri in an Oriental Derby take on the Naze Millionaires in one of the match day 10 games.

In their last 10 matches, Enyimba is yet to get a win over Heartland and with Coach Kennedy Boboye, a new Sheriff taking over in Owerri it promises to be a good spectacle.
