They were inducted along with 12 others at the ongoing All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) holding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital.
While Sir Chuka Nnabuife served as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief, Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, Awka, publisher of National Light Group of Newspapers, Mr Victor Agusiobo, currently of the Moment FM, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, served as Editor of National Light Newspapers.
Former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, who inducted the
new fellows at a gala night in honour of the Guild, held at the Banquet Hall, Governor’s Office, Uyo, urged them to live up to expectations as they now have more work to do.
Reacting to the development, Nnabuife expressed gratitude to the Guild for finding him worthy of elevation to the new status.
“Irrespective of the fact that to qualify for the NGE Fellowship, one must have recorded several concrete achievements in the field of journalism as an editor or an editor-in-chief and in larger society, it is still entirely God’s to be so honoured even after fulfilling the conditions.
“While giving God the glory, I thank the good people and government of my native Anambra State, who the last nine years, gave me the opportunity to pursue a brand of developmental journalism that has added vent to my practice and given birth to a huge body of intellectual and society-transforming works that still bear fruit.
“I dedicate this NGE Fellowship to Anambra State and all the people who have worked with me under thick and in such media projects as the newspapers, ‘National Light,’ ‘Ka O Di Taa,’ ‘SportsLight’XTRA’ and ‘Homeland Events’ as well as ‘The Nigerian Compass’ and others,” Nnabuife said.
Also speaking, Mr Agusiobo said: “It’s usually a prized and valued thing when your professional association considers you worthy of her highest honour. It offers greater room for mentorship and professional efficiency. I thank NGE for the honour”.
