As the saying goes every beginning most have an end after an awesome ten days of sporting activities for the 7th edition of the National Youth Games, the closing ceremony took place on Saturday at Stephen Keshi Stadium.
It’s the first and only National Youth Games hosted by a state apart from FCT and the University of Illorin, Kwara State, which hosted the previous editions.
During the closing ceremony, the minister of sports development, Senator John Owan Enoh, who represented President Asuwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said the ten days were period of veritable ground for harvesting a large pool of talented athletes that have been blessed, and they displayed their talents during bye annual event.
The minister said many athletes have discovered this during the games and urged them to go ahead and create a career path for themselves in sports because that is the vision of the games.
He said the main impact of the games have been far-reaching new friends have been made across the aisle economic activities within and outside the capital city of Delta and the country at large by selling sports equipment and other related commodities.
The minister also said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to properly leverage the socioeconomic benefit of sports in the country through its endeared commitment.
