As AthIetics events nears the closing bend, finals of most events,, long jump, 800m and relays boys and girls will be decided today inside the mainbowl of Stephen Kesh international stadium.

Interestingly, States like Edo, Delta, Akwa/Ibom, Imo, Abia, others are in the finals of the events primed for this afternoon and would want to pick medals in all Competitions.

Today’s finals in the Long jump girls promises to be hotly contested as Edo State long jumper Becky have an eye on the medal having jumped 5:24m while in camp.

The 800m medal may go to the North as Gombe State AthIetics Academy lad, Abdullahi is poised to come tops.

The relays may belong to Edo and Delta AthIetes having so performed well in the semis.

According to the AFN technical director Samuel Onikeku who averred that the contest for medals is growing and fittingly healthy for AthIetics at this stage, the competitive spirit of young AthIetes should be kept high to encourage their confidence.

He said, in AthIetics, how an athlete performed in Semi-finals cannot be used as a perfect measure in determining the outcome of the final race.

The Technical Director insisted that anything can happen in the finals. No one is a champion or winner until they crosses the finishing line.
