Anambra State will today face team Delta In the finals of the Female Rugby event of the ongoing 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) holding at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State.

The Anambra Rugby side saw off their opponents from Cross River by 12 tries to 5 in a keenly contested semi-finals clash played at the St. Patrick’s College Asaba.

The anticipated finals on Tuesday against Team Delta will be the second meeting of both sides after they had earlier met in the group stage with the contest ending in a scored draw, 5 tries apiece.

Elsewhere, the state ambassadors continued their quest for glory in Beach Volleyball as both male and female sides booked their quarterfinal tickets.

In the final group game for the boys playing in Group B, Team Anambra saw off Kaduna by 2 sets to nil (21-10, 21-14) while their female side got the better of Rivers State triumphing 2-0 (21-8, 21-16) with a game to spare in the elimination stage.

In Chess and Scrabble, Anambra athletes are still in bullish mood having recorded a positive outing in the first five rounds of the singles event holding at the Multi-purpose Hall.

In Gymnastics, the female trio of Ethel Jimoh, Treasure Ocheke and Itoro Iyemeabasi featured in Artistic Gymnastics earlier today for vault, boom and floor and are expected to make the last eight in the three events.

They will also feature in power thumbling event on Tuesday at the Multi-purpose Hall two of the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba.
