It’s heartily refreshing to witness former NYG prodigies welcome young Athletes across Nigeria to the 7th National Youth Games holding in Asaba.
As young talents who emerged from the past Games, Favour Ofili, Ese Brume, Godson Brume presently competing abroad in 200m, Long jump and 100m respectively welcome all sporting Young athletes to the first National Youth Games in the state.
In separate comments from their bases abroad, Ofili the 200m trojan said, “it’s good to welcome these young AthIetes to a state some of them never visited before. It’s still in my memory visiting strange environment to compete for Delta State. I wish them happy stay and healthy competition”.
For Ese Brume who exclaimed, Wow! how time flies”, said “its good that the Delta State government is hosting this competition. It helped me as a green horn to be discovered, see where I am today, be courageous and patient, victory will come. She advised young athIetes.
Brume the current Africa champion in long jump (7:17m) said she would have loved to watch today’s Young athIetes compete in various sports particularly, AthIetics, unfortunately, she couldn’t make it owing to time exigencies.
Godson Brume the sub-10 sprinter said, Youth Games is the basic Competition that makes talent discovery possible.
According to him, if officials are truthful and sincere in objectively screening the Athletes, chances are that some of them will make it to the top. He joyfully welcome the Young talents to Delta, the melting pot of Sports in Nigeria.
Interestingly, pictorial posters of the aforementioned former Youth Athletes who excelled in past Youth Games adorn strategic corners around the stadium.
