The Chairman, Enyimba International FC, Kanu Papilo Nwankwo has said that the team will focus on the NPFL and other competitions since their CAF Champions League journey is cut short.
The FIFA Ambassador who expressed disappointment over the clubs inability to secure passage into the next round said it’s part of the game but praised the players for giving it all they had but for the much needed goal.
He however urged the players not to relent in their efforts but put more effort especially as all attention will be shifted to the other competitions the club is involved in after the disappointing result before the home fans
He maintained that Enyimba is a big brand and that since his administration came on board they have and will continue to add on the positives that will help propel the club to greater heights.
It was not expected result in Aba where hopes were high for qualification into the next round of the CAF Champions League 2023/24 season, but there was however exciting moments at the Enyimba Int’l Stadium, Aba.
The game saw for the first time after a couple of years a huge crowd watching the People’s Elephant again at home with the Abia State Deputy Governor, His Excellency Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, Enyimba Legends as well as Management and Players of sister club, Abia Warriors among many other dignitaries who all defied the rainy Sunday to troop out in their numbers to cheer Enyimba to victory.
There was disappointment on many faces of the mammoth crowd who were hoping to see their idol qualify into the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
However, there is a ray of hope for continued support despite the result as one of the fans, Chukwuebuka Iheukwumere said, “yes, our team lost. It is painful but we are out to support the new administration achieve greater result”,
“This is not the kind of beginning we hoped for but all hope is not lost. You see the way Aba and the entire state came in their numbers to support Enyimba. That will show you that it is a new dawn with or without Champions League”.
