The Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Cordelia Ebenebe has stated that her administration is poised towards raising the current status of the Faculty towards productive gains.
Prof. Ebenebe made the assertions during an interview with reporters on the occasion of the 2022/2023 matriculation ceremony of the Faculty.
The scholar in the Department of Animal Science who majors in the field of Animal Production and Management stated that in line with the vision of ‘Project 200’ under the present administration of Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, she is poised towards ensuring that the Faculty begins production of massive foodstocks for the University Community as well as generating funds for the Faculty and the institution at large.
The scholar opined that agriculture remains the mainstay of the country’s economy and efforts should be made by various stakeholders in the sector towards food production, food sufficiency, enhancing of crop yield and empowering individuals involved in different fields of the agricultural practices. She also averred that as agriculture is a professional course, those in the field and those who audit the agricultural educational programs are self employed and are entrepreneurs.
Ebenebe also disclosed that she and her team will develop a sustainable model on how to enhance food production even after her tenure elapse as the Dean as there is a stigma that the Faculty is not productive. She called on staff members of the Faculty to join hands towards taking the Faculty to the next level.
