The beautiful sporting edifice at the heart of the capital of Anambra state, the Awka City stadium will play host to 4 federation cup games next week. 6 male teams will on wednesday 26th April, battle it out for places in the round of 32 of the Federation Cup while 2 female teams will also face each other for a place in the next round as well.
In a circular from the communication department of Nigeria Football Federation, the first match on wednesday next week will see Nigerian Premier Football League side Lobi Stars of Benue state take on Nigerian National League side FC One Rocket of Akwa Ibom state by 12 pm.
Next match by 2pm will see another NNL side, FC Ebedei of Ekiti state take on non league side Hope of Glory of Cross Rivers state. The final match by 4pm that day will see Warri Wolves of Delta state play Beyond Limits of Ogun state. The winners of these matches will progress to the round of 32 of the Federation Cup.
On Friday 28th of April 2023 is a day meant for the Queens. Sunshine Queens of Ondo state will play Edo Queens to battle for round of 16 space.
For these two days festival of football, football fans are encouraged to come and enjoy the very best of the historic FA Cup.
As the battle heats up across the country, the Anambra FA Chairman, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi has charged the four teams that will fly the flag of the state at the national level to be good ambassadors of the state while on national assignment.
The chairman informed the 4 teams to go all the way in the competition in other to make the state proud.
The state female champions , Awka Angels, will be in Abuja to take on Osun Babes while runners up, Maureen Madu KFC will take on Green Foot Ladies of Enugu in Owerri. These two matches will be played on Friday 28th of April 2023.
In the male category, winners, Ozalla FA will be at the FIFA Goal Project Abuja to play NPFL side, Doma United while Edel FC will at the Ondo Sports Complex Akure take on Kogi United Feeders teams. These two matches will be played on Wednesday 26th April, 2023.
The teams are assured of maximum support and prayers of the state Football Association and Ndi Anambra as they take the history making steps in FA Cup glory.
