Gunmen have attacked the resident of a Political stakeholder in Owerri Ezukala community , Orumba South local government area of Anambra state setting ablaze vehicles and houses.
The incident happened few hours before the Presidential and National Assembly election in the area.
According to the victim and party stakeholder, Chief Edozie Madu, over eighty armed men opened fire from his gate and started shooting without control until they gained entrance to his country home.
He said that it took the gallantry effort of DSS and Policemen to whisk him away from the raging bullets which riddled his bullet proof car.
Chief Madu who is a one time presidential candidate of INDEPENDENT DEMOCRATS alleged that the gunmen had an existing camp in Owerru Ezukala and called on security agents to unravel the situation for safety of voters and those living in the area.
Confirming the incident , the Police Public Relations Officer ,Anambra state police command , DSP, Tochukwu Ikenga said at about 8pm Friday evening , Police & DSS Operatives rescued unhurt Edozie Madu in his home town Owerre Ezukala, Orumba South LGA from armed men/arsonists suspected to be members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN members.
The release says the hoodlums came to the house, started shooting indiscriminately and set his house ablaze
