Sam Pam Jnr, a former Nigeria international, was on Cloud 9 Wednesday evening after his young guns, Ben Akwuegbu FC sealed their place in the Round Two of the 2023 Plateau FA Cup following a 4-3 (penalties) triumph over Machibi FC.
“It’s not only being happy, I’m impressed the way the players performed in the game today”, Sam Pam quipped.
The two teams tied at 1-1 after regulation time and in line with the Cup rules, they went straight into penalty kicks as tie breaker.
Pam’s new guns demonstrated incredible courage, confidence, composure and quality to prevail 4-3 from the spot kicks.
On the strenght of the win, Ben Akwuegbu FC have now set up a second round confrontation against Solke FC.
“You can see everybody around the team, players, officials and even the fans are all happy”, Pam continued.
“It’s about me alone. Come to think about it. Ours is a young team which was put together few months ago as against Maichibi FC that even played in the NLO last season.
“It a sign we’re in the right direction. It’s not yet unusual. We’re still work in progress and look forward with optimism in the coming game”.
Few days before the Plateau State FA Cup opening game, Ben Akwuegbu FC took delivery of two vehicles from the club’s President, Ben Akwuegbu, a former Super Eagles striker.
The vehicles are an 18-Seater Hummer Bus for the players and a Toyota Sienna Car for the officials and Technical crew.
Perhaps, it’s this welfare boost that motivated the players in Wednesday’s FA Cup opening win.
