Construction work has commenced on the Unizik temporary site junction Okpuno- Isuaniocha road in Anambra state.
Anambra state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo had awarded the contract two months ago with an assurance that it will be completed within ten months.
The 6.847 kilometer road project is expected to ease human and vehicular movement on the ever busy road .
Residents had been expressing concern over the non commencement of work since the rains stopped about two months ago.
However upon seeing the heavy duty trucks on Tuesday morning, road users expressed their views with mixed reactions over the development.
While some commended the government for awarding the project to a competent and known construction company, others decried non alternative routes to some of the areas that are connected to the major road.
Shops and artisans were also affected as they were seen trying to park out their goods and wares from the marked portions of the road while tricycle operators were also adjusting with the portions available to them.
Other respondents who interacted with our correspondent expressed concern over timely completion of the project to ease traffic in the area.
