Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to kindly direct the honourable commissioner for works to quickly carryout palliative works on Umueze Anam-Oroma road in other to reduce the suffering of ndi-Anambra West.
Member representing Anambra West constituency, Hon. Patrick Udoba today at plenary on a matter of urgent public importance, inform the 7th assembly and the general public on the devastating effect of the recent flooding in Anambra West LGA which has cut off Umueze Anam-Oroma etuti road.
While lamenting over the losses caused by the flood, Uduoba said Anambra West was among the local governments that were submerged by the recent flooding in Nigeria. The flooding has caused serious loss of lives, properties and government infrastructure and has displaced many of Ndi Anambra West, who are predominantly farmers. he submitted
In his words; “Amongst numerous damages, the flood has cut off Umueze Anam -oroma road, which is the only access road to more than 10 Communities in Anambra West. The bad condition of the road will worsen the already bleeding economic and social activities of the area occasions by the economic hardship and the flooding.
“I therefore want to use this opportunity to call on the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to direct the honorable commissioner for works to immediately carryout palliative works on Umueze Anam-Oroma road in order to reduce the sufferings of Ndi Anambra West. My people at the IDP can’t go back because they can’t use the road which was cut off.
Anambra Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike who is the member representing Ihiala 2 constituency while adding his voice said Anambra West is the food basket of the state and despite the fact that the state government is working on some roads in Anambra West constituency, these road in particular which has already divided into two is very vital and that while waiting for intervention on the other roads, the state government should take action on this Umueze Anam-Oroma road.
Anambra Speaker Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor on his part said the Governor is doing everything possible to solve the problems as regards bad roads in the state. He pleaded with Soludo to come to the aid of ndi Anambra West constituency as requested by honourable Udoba.
