Young Progressive Party (YPP) candidate for Anambra state house of assembly, Awka North constituency Hon. Arinze Chukwuka Victor says the area lacks dividends of democracy.
Hon. Arinze while speaking to members of St Anthony Catholic church, Amansea recently said when it comes to agriculture, Awka North should be counted amongst the leading local governments but blamed lack of proper representation in attracting government attention to the area.
He urged the congregation to support his ambition promising them that he will not fail them if voted into office.
In an exclusive interview after the mass, the YPP candidate said “I came into this race because it’s a divine mandate. I was motivated by what am seeing in my locality and constituency. In terms of governance, Awka North is lagging behind and most marginalized compared to other constituencies.
“There’s no dividends of good democracy in Awka North except recently when governor Chukwuma Soludo flagged off roads which we appreciate him for”,
“If I win this race by God’s grace, I am going to change the narrative. I will bring down legislature to every door step in Awka North. Agriculture, infrastructure and youth empowerment will be focused on”,
“There will be scholarship and skill aquizition. Health Care system and services will be improved so that the people of Awka North will stop dying prematurely and maternal mortality reduced. These are the dividends of democracy that we have been deprived of.
As regards the recent flood that also affected some parts of Awka North constituency, the YPP candidate said “if elected, I am going to move a motion and sponsor bill so that housing scheme will be provided for victims of flood and those living around riverine areas”,
“They should be relocated in order to avoid reoccurrence of such incidents in the future and convert those areas to tourism sites by building beach and resorts there which will generate money for government”, he stated
