All Saints Methodist church Youth Fellowship, Fegge, Onitsha on Sunday extended their milk of kindness to over twenty less privileged members of the church in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the formation of “Hope for the Hopeless” arm of the group established to assist the helpless members of the church.
The annual celebration was heralded by a church service officiated by the resident priest,Rev.J.Mkpukpu and a guest speaker and Methodist priest from Abuja,Rev.Dr.Anene Chukwu.
In a sermon, the resident priest,Rev.Mkpukpu urged the youths to continue in their humanitarian gesture as God has a way of rewarding such acts of charity.
He charged the youths not to be deterred by the present economic realities of the country as they would soon be a thing of the past.
In an interview, President , All Saints Methodist Church Youth Fellowship, Fegge Onitsha,Bro.Peter Nwoha said that the occasion was in commemoration of ten years anniversary of the formation of “Hope for the Hopeless” arm of the youth fellowship.
He revealed that the group source their funds from good-spirited individuals from the public as well as donations from members of the group.
Chairman of the anniversary planning committee,Bro.Chukwuemeka Onyerisara explained that the ceremony was an annual event in which gifts,cash and scholarship awards are presented to the needy among them.
He said that scholarship was given to five students in the church, while two year house rents were paid for five members of the church among others.
Secretary of the planning committee, Bro. Onyebuchi Ohaneje in an interview disclosed that most of the Youth Fellowship members were bachelors and spinsters before embracing marriage.
Highpoint of the occasion was presentation of cash awards, scholarship and other gifts to beneficiaries.
