A middle aged man is now in police custody for allegedly shooting his elder brother to death in Okpunoeze village Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra state .
The suspect , Peter Orji allegedly killed his elder brother Mr Godwin Orji for disconnecting his apartment’s electricity over non- payment of electricity bill.
An eye witness account said the incident followed an argument that ensued between the two blood brothers over electricity bills and disconnection of light.
According to the report, the suspect, Peter Orji failed to pay his monthly EEDC bill of One Thousand, Five Hundred Naira which made the brother to disconnect his apartment light, an action that caused them to have a quarrel in the compound.
It was in the process that the suspect rushed into his room, grabbed a gun and shot dead his elder brother.
Confirming the incident in a telephone interview, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect had been arrested by police operatives in the area .
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
DSP Ikenga used the medium to reiterate the call by the Commissioner of Police in Anambra state for members of the public to stop taking laws into their hands but report to the nearest police station for the resolution of their differences in the interest of peace.
