Two children (17 and 12 years) Chikamnayo Olisemeka and Emeka Okoye have been awarded scholarship by the wife of Anambra state governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo.
The two children went through different life harrowing experiences but mercy of God happened in their lives.
While Chikamnayo Olisemeka (17) survived physical and emotional domestic abuse in the hands of his uncle and his wife, Emeka Okoye (12) was emersed in a complicated child trafficking issue.
Narrating her involvement in the children’s case, Mrs Soludo said “The stories of Masters Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka and Emeka Okoye are ones that melt my heart with each recollection. Not just as a woman, but most importantly as a mother who knows first-hand, the pressure, stress and joy of parturition and child rasing”,
“Chimkamnayo, 17, survived years of horrible domestic abuse in the hands of his uncle and wife, who fostered him for many years. Emeka, who is twelve years old, was involved in a complicated issue of child trafficking”,
“Both kids were rescued through the efforts of Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare. As I interacted and shared the dining table with the two intelligent kids, I assured them of my keen desire to see them live the rest of their lives not as victims, but as children with immense potentials to achieve their dreams and become perfect pictures of Anambra pride”.
“While I promised to, in collaboration with the Ministry, take up academic sponsorships for the two children immediately the new school calendar opens in September, I reminded them of the virtues of hard work, patience and humility, as key factors to success”.
“I have also placed order for purchase of textbooks for Chimkamnayo who loves Physics and Chemistry, and Emeka who is passionate about Mathematics. God on our side, both kids will become pinnacles of success; the kind that my husband’s administration is constantly striving to prepare all Anambra children for”, she said.
Mrs Soludo is confident that the two children’s story will be a successful one.
