The Anambra state Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng has called on journalists to always bring to play the practice of ethical investigative journalism especially in building social peace and enhancing public safety.
The Commissioner made the call while reacting to a report published _11-Year-Old Boy Kidnapped During Mass In Anambra_ and a facebook user, *Anambra Connect*, tagged _St Anthony Catholic Church on fire_.
These incidents he said were not reported to the police, from the publications the circumstances surrounding the rescue of the kidnapped boy was misgiving and how the said fire was put off without recourse to the appropriate agency was dubious.
A visit to the church premises shows no fire of any such occur and the church buildings intact. It is obvious that the intention of the publisher is to incite tension and discredit the peace enjoyed in the state,
However, the Commissioner of Police assures citizens especially Ndi Anambra that the confidence repose on police and other security agencies shall not be taken for granted especially in providing security services.
He encouraged them not to live in fear of any threat at all time and always trust police will their problems to handle. He also warned its originators and peddlers of these mischievous and sensational reaction/publication to desist forthwith, as they will not be spared if apprehended.
